Agartala, 18th June 2025:  Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath today announced that the modernization of power transmission infrastructure under a project worth Rs 1,800 crore is underway and informed that technology will soon be introduced to allow repairs on power transmission lines without shutting down power.

Power Minister Nath said this after inaugurating a 132 kV substation in Amarpur under Gomati District.

The Minister said the construction of this power substation, with the joint cooperation of the Government of India and the World Bank, will benefit the people of Amarpur, Chelagang, Rangamati, Malbasa, Thalchhara, Debbati, Anaraibari, Kasko, Khamariabari, and a wide surrounding area.

He said that technology to work without shutting down power during repairs on power transmission lines will be introduced soon.

“We have undertaken some plans for further improvement of the power department in the state. These include facilitating quick repairs without disrupting services, handling excess pressure during summer, using drones to monitor and identify faults in tower lines to aid maintenance and preventive measures, and commissioning mobile substations to provide immediate alternatives and avoid power outages during disasters,” he said.

Minister Nath highlighted that the development of transmission infrastructure is being carried out in collaboration with the Government of India and the World Bank.

“Out of the total 9 new 132 kV substations, 8 have been completed, and 2 are under construction. New technology cables are being added to the old lines from Agartala 79 Tila to Rukhia. A new tower line is being constructed from Ambassa to Gandachara with financial assistance from the North-Eastern Council,” he said.

He also stated that officials of the power department should always listen to the complaints of power consumers with patience and resolve them in a timely manner.
