Grand arrangements for “Diwali” & “Kali Puja” in Tripureshwari temple

Agartala Oct 23: The largest Diwali fair in North Eastern region will be held in “Matabari” on the occasion of Diwali, the festival of lights on Monday.Owing to the occasion, the entire temple premises including Mata Tripurasundari Mandir, one of the fifty-one peeths, has already been decorated with colorful lights. Along with this, the entry way of Matabari on both sides of the national highway has been decorated with bright lights.

State Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will inaugurate the Diwali fair by lighting lamps on Monday evening. Besides, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varman, MP and former Chief Minister Biplap Kumar Deb, MoS Pratima Bhowmik, State Minister for Agriculture Transport and Tourism Pranajit Singh Roy, Ministers Rampada Jamatia, Ramprasad Pal will also be present among other dignitaries.

All the members of the state cabinet and dignitaries including MLAs of Gomti district will also remain present on the occasion.Diwali Mela Committee Chairman and Matarbari Kendra MLA Biplab Kumar Ghosh will preside over the event. On the evening of October 24 there will be ‘Mangal Arti’ on the bank of the Kalyan Sagar lake and this programme will be attended by 51 drum-beat parties and members of 1500 self-help groups of women. In the fair altogether 685 shop keepers and traders will be accommodated. The space in the temple compound is very limited but, nevertheless, there will be 6 welcome gates and and 28 drop gates to control movement of devotees to and from the temple.
