Agartala, 20th November 2025: A high-level delegation led by Tripura’s Health Director Dr. Debasree Debbarma conducted a joint inspection at Sonamura sub-divisional hospital in Sepahijala district yesterday.
The team began with a ground-level review of the hospital premises, assessing the supply and stock of medicines, overall infrastructure, and the functioning of critical units including the emergency services and operation theatre.
During the visit, officials interacted with admitted patients and their families to understand their health conditions, treatment facilities, and service delivery. The delegation also reviewed the ongoing process of shifting outpatient services to the newly constructed OPD complex. Inspections extended to the old IPD building, hospital kitchen, mortuary, and residential quarters for doctors and health staff, with a focus on evaluating service standards.
Following the inspection, a key meeting was held with Sonamura Sub-Divisional Medical Officer Dr. Rajesh Das, representatives from the Public Works Department, and members of the National Health Mission’s Program Management Unit. The meeting discussed healthcare delivery, infrastructure development, and measures required to address issues identified during the inspection. Concerns raised by field staff and healthcare workers were also presented to the Health Director.
Speaking after the review, Dr. Debbarma emphasized that such inspections will continue across all health institutions in the district to ensure quality medical services. She assured that necessary steps will be taken promptly to improve patient care at Sonamura Sub-Divisional Hospital.
The delegation included Joint Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Dr. Nirmal Sarkar, Head of Office and Deputy Director (Dental) Dr. Rajesh Anil Acharya, Sepahijala Chief Medical Officer Dr. Debashis Das, and District Health & Family Welfare Officer Dr. Deep Kumar Debbarma, along with other senior officials.
