Agartala, 9th May 2025: State Health Director Dr. Tapan Majumdar on Friday conducted an extensive field visit to Khowai District Hospital to assess existing infrastructure and identify areas for improvement in healthcare service delivery.
Accompanied by District Magistrate Rajat Pant and Joint Director of Health Dr. Saroj Debbarma, the Health Director inspected multiple departments across the hospital, including the emergency ward, gynecology department, operation theater, oxygen plant, kitchen, dialysis unit, and the pediatric ICU. The team also reviewed the proposed site for a new orthopedic operation theater and examined the feasibility of adding an emergency ICU bed near the emergency department.
District Chief Health Officer Dr. Padmaram Jamatia and Medical Superintendent Dr. Sharbindu Reang joined the visit alongside other senior officials. The delegation also toured the outpatient department, medicine store, and blood bank, interacting with doctors, nurses, and staff to understand challenges in infrastructure and day-to-day operations.
Dr. Majumdar emphasized the importance of clean and well-maintained hospital premises and personally inquired about cleanliness standards during the inspection.
Speaking to the media, he said the purpose of the visit was to gain a first-hand understanding of infrastructural shortcomings and service gaps.
“The Health Department is committed to resolving these issues promptly to enhance healthcare quality for the people,” said Dr. Majumdar, underlining the department’s objective of ensuring better services through improved infrastructure.
