Agartala, 31st July 2025: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the present government has taken the initiative to revamp the health system of the state and is making arrangements so that no one has to go outside for treatment.
“The government is working to create a medical hub in the state of Tripura. The government is making arrangements so that no one has to go outside for treatment. Because the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government is a responsible government,” said Dr. Saha.
Dr. Saha said this at a program organized at the Vivekananda Auditorium of Tripura Medical College Hospital in Hapania today.On this occasion, blood donation camps, Van Mahotsav, free distribution of orthotics for hip and knee replacement patients, and free distribution of spectacles amongst children below 14 years were organized.
Chief Minister Dr. Saha said, “I spent an important chapter of my life at Tripura Medical College. It actually feels like I have come home here. After overcoming many obstacles, Tripura Medical College has been able to reach a place today. This institution will definitely develop further in the future. Due to its achievements, Tripura Medical College has now come to a special place in the North East. This medical college has now stood on its own feet in terms of infrastructure. Although it had to face faculty problems in the beginning, it has now established itself as a full-fledged medical college.”
Dr. Saha, who is also the Health Minister of the state, said that blood donation has also been arranged here today because blood has no religion. “We are all one, we are all human beings. And that can be well established through blood donation. About 15% of the population has negative blood. By donating blood, new blood is produced and the body also stays healthy. Doctors need at least 2 units of blood during operations. There are currently 14 blood banks in the state. Out of these, 12 are government and 2 are private. After the formation of the BJP-led government in the state in 2018, initiatives have been taken to revamp the health system. Currently, 9 super specialties have been started in Agartala Government Medical College Hospital. Super specialties have been set up in a corporate style at a cost of about Rs 250 crore. Although in the last few decades, attention has not been paid to improving health,” he said.He said that the BJP-led government is working for the people with responsibility.The Chief Minister said that the state is becoming a medical hub.
“A dental college has been established within 7 months. The Prime Minister himself inaugurated the dental college. Currently, there are 63 seats in this college. The state government is making arrangements so that no patient has to go out for treatment,” he added.
