Agartala, 23rd April 2026: The Meteorological Centre, Agartala has forecast a spell of hot and humid weather across Tripura over the coming three days, attributing the conditions to strong solar radiation. Several districts are likely to experience daytime temperatures touching or exceeding 36°C, which is estimated to be 2 to 4 degrees higher than the normal range for this time of year.
Recent observations indicate a noticeable rise in temperature, with the mercury climbing to 36.6°C in the last 24 hours. This marks the highest temperature recorded in the state so far in April and stands significantly above the usual average. Elevated humidity levels have compounded the discomfort, making conditions more oppressive and increasing the likelihood of heat-related health issues.
Officials have advised people to minimize exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during the peak hours between late morning and mid-afternoon. Emphasis has been placed on staying well-hydrated, choosing light and breathable clothing, and consuming refreshing drinks such as lassi or lemon water. At the same time, the public has been cautioned against intake of beverages that may lead to dehydration, along with heavy or stale food items.
