Agartala: August 08. In an unprecedented disaster, the National Highway No. 8, Sabroom, adjacent to Manu Lachi Camp, has suffered severe damage due to relentless heavy rains. More than 50 percent of the road has crumbled, causing a complete halt in traffic movement. Shockingly, despite the obvious risks, numerous passenger vehicles are daringly navigating the treacherous road.
The lack of intervention from the Birchandra Manu police station, who were present at the scene, has added to the panic and concern among the local population. The absence of guidance from the Department of Works and the road construction company has left the situation even more dire, leaving locals fearing a potential major incident.
Reports suggest that the Sabroom National Highway underwent renovation and received a facelift merely three to four years ago. However, the recent incessant rainfall has exposed the fragility of the construction, causing the road to collapse like a house of cards.
With forecasts indicating the possibility of more heavy rainfall, anxiety mounts among the common people who believe that the Sabroom National Highway is at risk of being completely cut off. As the situation intensifies, urgent action and support from authorities are required to avert further catastrophe and ensure the safety of the region’s inhabitants.
