Agartala, 19th August 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tripura over the next five days, from August 21 to August 25.
According to the IMD bulletin, South Tripura district is likely to witness heavy to very heavy rain (7–20 cm) at one or two locations on August 21, 22, and 23. The remaining districts are also expected to receive heavy showers (7–11 cm) during this period.The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase further on August 24 and 25, with South, Gomati, and Sepahijala districts predicted to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Other districts may also witness widespread heavy showers.
The department has advised people living in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain alert, as incessant rain may cause waterlogging, localized flooding, and disruption of road communication. Farmers and fishermen have also been urged to exercise caution.Meanwhile, authorities have been directed to stay vigilant and be prepared to tackle any emergency situation that may arise due to the prevailing weather conditions.
