Agartala, 5th March 2026: In an inspiring display of determination and endurance, two senior cyclists from Agartala, the capital of Tripura, successfully completed an extraordinary cycling expedition to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. Covering nearly 5,300 kilometers in just 56 days, the remarkable journey was undertaken by Chandan Bhowmik (66) and Ajay Kumar Saha (59).

Chandan Bhowmik is a retired officer from the Agriculture Department, while Ajay Kumar Saha is a well-known businessman. Despite being over 60 years old, their achievement stands as a powerful example of discipline, perseverance, and mental strength.

The duo began their journey on January 5, 2026, with a mission to promote environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, world peace, and social awareness. Throughout the expedition, they cycled between 100 and 220 kilometers per day, maintaining remarkable consistency and dedication.

During their long journey, the cyclists passed through several Indian states, including Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, before finally reaching Tamil Nadu. Each day brought new experiences as they interacted with local residents, travelers, youth, and elderly people, sharing life stories and spreading messages of positivity and awareness.

According to them, cycling journeys like this are not only beneficial for physical fitness but also play a significant role in developing mental strength, discipline, and self-control. They emphasized that such initiatives send a strong message to the younger generation: a disciplined lifestyle and regular exercise can help people stay away from substance abuse and lead healthier lives.

Their historic journey concluded on March 1 at around 7:00 PM, when they reached the iconic Gandhi Memorial Mandapam in Kanyakumari.

In recognition of this extraordinary achievement, the cyclists were honored by the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation. Their accomplishment marks a proud moment for the cycling community of Agartala and the entire state of Tripura, carrying a powerful message of awareness, perseverance, and healthy living for society.
