Agartala, 9th November 2024: Holy Cross College, Agartala celebrated its 13th Graduation Day on Saturday at the open stage of its Jubatara campus in Lembucherra. The event commenced at 10 am featured an introductory segment led by the Masters of Ceremony (MCs) and the traditional lighting of the lamp.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Benny K. John, CSC, Principal of Holy Cross College welcomed the graduates and esteemed guests in his opening address. This was followed by a welcome dance performed by students Moumita and Shreyashi. Tapashi Saha, Head of the Department of Teacher Education delivered a message on behalf of the faculty, highlighting the accomplishments of the graduating class.
Rev. Fr. Abraham K.J., CSC, President of the Holy Cross Educational Foundation offered a congratulatory address, commending the graduates on their achievements and encouraging them toward future pursuits. Adding a cultural touch to the program, a traditional Mamita dance was performed by David and his group.
Representatives from the graduating class, Sangita Neogi and Pohor Debbarma, spoke on behalf of the 2023-2024 batch, sharing reflections on their journey and expressing gratitude to the faculty and staff.
The Chief Guest Vice Chancellor of Tripura University Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain delivered the Commencement Speech. Prof. Prasain emphasized the importance of upholding the values learned at Holy Cross College as graduates transition into their careers.
A highlight of the ceremony was the distribution of medals and certificates. Over 400 students from the 2024 batch graduated from various departments. Among them, five students excelled as rank holders in their fields, including Sociology, Business Administration, and Commerce, based on their performance in the sixth-semester exams conducted by Tripura University. This year also marked the graduation of the first batch of postgraduates from the English and Political Science departments.
Dr. Sharmistha Rakshit, Convener of the College Graduation Day Committee concluded the event by delivering the vote of thanks, recognizing all contributors to the event’s success. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of a memorable day for the graduates.
