Agartala, 29th October 2025:    Representatives of Dhumacherra Holy Cross School called on Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma to submit a memorandum seeking government support for the expansion of hostel facilities and construction of a new hostel building to accommodate increasing student intake.

Established in 1996, the school has been instrumental in providing education to children from economically weaker sections. Following major infrastructure development in 2022 and the launch of a hostel facility in 2023, the school now caters to nearly 300 students, including 70 hostel boarders.

During the meeting, school authorities highlighted the urgent requirement for additional hostel space to meet growing demand and ensure a secure and conducive environment for students residing on campus.

Minister Debbarma commended the institution’s service-oriented approach and its dedication to uplifting underprivileged communities through education. He expressed his full support for the proposed expansion, stating that initiatives of this nature merit government assistance to further promote educational advancement in tribal areas.
