Agartala, 9th May 2025: The Meteorological Centre in Agartala has forecast hot and humid weather across Tripura over the next two days, with day temperatures expected to soar to 37°C or higher in several parts of the state. A yellow warning has also been issued for possible thunderstorms and lightning from May 10 to 14.
According to a press release from the weather office, prevailing partly cloudy skies, coupled with high moisture levels and intense solar radiation, are contributing to the spike in temperatures. In some areas, temperatures are likely to exceed the seasonal average by 3 to 5°C.
The department also reported that an upper air cyclonic circulation persists over Northeast Assam and the surrounding region, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
“During the past 24 hours, very light rain was recorded at isolated locations, particularly in the North district, while dry conditions prevailed across most parts of the state,” the release noted. “There has been an appreciable rise in maximum temperatures, which remained well above normal.”
From May 10 to 14, a yellow warning is in place for isolated thunderstorms with lightning across North, Unakoti, Khowai, West, Sepahijala, Gomati, and Dhalai districts. Residents are advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
