Agartala, 20th May 2025: A man was allegedly assaulted by his wife and her son after he returned home from work late at night and found her in a compromising position with two men at their residence in the Aralia Oriya Para area of the capital.
According to police sources, the woman, who is employed as a court clerk, had been living with her husband for the past 10–12 years. The husband, a resident of Oriya Para, had gone to Belonia yesterday for work and returned late at night, only to find his wife allegedly in bed with two unknown men.
On being confronted, the two men reportedly fled through the back door. When the husband tried to intervene, he was allegedly beaten with sticks by his wife, who was assisted by her son from a previous marriage. The injured man managed to escape and took shelter at a neighboring house. Locals rushed him to Anandnagar Hospital, from where he was later referred to GBP Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
The incident triggered strong reactions from the local community, with residents demanding immediate action against the accused woman. Villagers have reportedly approached Srinagar Police Station, insisting that she be removed from the locality, alleging that her activities are contributing to the moral degradation of the area.
The victim has filed a formal complaint at Srinagar Police Station, and an investigation is underway. Locals have stated that while they do not wish to take the law into their own hands, they will not tolerate what they claim to be “prostitution-related activities” in their neighborhood.
