Agartala, January 01, 2023: The Bengali department of Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar Mahavidyalaya in Belonia organized a college level discussion celebrating the birth anniversary of Bengali Indian writer Advaita Mallabarman and poet Jashimuddin on Sunday.
Poet and Deya newspaper editor Debashish Chakraborty was present as the keynote speaker on the occasion. The principal of the college Dr Manoranjan Das chaired the discussion and Dr Pinaki Maiti also participated.
The speakers discussed the role of Advaita Mallavarman and Jasimuddin in preserving culture in a rapidly changing cultural world. The speakers noted the contribution of Advaita Mallavarman, the author of the novel “Titus Ekti Nodir Naam”, to the rescue of Tripura’s folk culture, fiction and translation literature.
The speakers also shed light on the manner in which Jasimuddin’s Nakshi Kanthara Mantha or Sojanbadiya Ghat established humanism and communal harmony.
The program was successfully celebrated even on holiday with the enthusiasm of the students.Meanwhile, on the occasion of the 109th birth anniversary of the poet Advaita Mallabarman, a three-day long festival was inaugurated at the premises of the Kematali Advaita Mallavarman Memorial Class XII School premises in Sonamura sub-division on Sunday.
The union minister of state Pratima Bhoumik and SC Welfare minister Bhagaban Chandra Das were scheduled to attend the event as inaugurator and chief guest, but due to the sudden demise of Revenue minister NC Debbarma, they couldn’t visit the event.Former principal Rebati Mohan Das inaugurated the festival and Sabhadipati of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Supriya Das Datta, social worker Kishore Barman and MLA Subhash Chandra Das were also present.
