Agartala, 3rd July 2025:  A fresh wave of unrest gripped the Tatua Tilla locality under Udaipur subdivision after miscreants allegedly desecrated a Hindu temple late last night, damaging the idol of Goddess Shitala.

According to local sources, the act of vandalism took place under the cover of darkness. The desecration was found early this morning. Local members claim this is not an isolated incident as just a week back a Shani temple in the same area was reportedly demolished under similar circumstances.

Allegations have also surfaced regarding the presence of individuals of Bangladeshi origin in the area, whose activities locals describe as “suspicious.”

Responding swiftly, Udaipur SDPO Nirman Das along with a team of officers visited the site and initiated an investigation. “We are treating the matter with utmost seriousness. Additional forces have been deployed to ensure peace and prevent any escalation,” Das stated.

Several Hindu organizations and local residents have condemned the act as a direct assault on religious sentiments and demanded immediate identification and punishment of the perpetrators.

Police officials confirmed that surveillance has been intensified and suspects are under watch. However, frustration lingers among residents who allege that no concrete action has been taken in previous cases.
