Agartala, 9th August 2025:   In a significant gesture to promote agricultural activities and support farmers, Avula Ramesh Reddy, IPS, presently posted as Inspector General of Police (Crime), Tripura has attended a paddy transplantation programme today at Dudhpushkuni. The event has taken place in the farmland of Paramananda Sen, a renowned farmer and founder of a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) in the state.

During the transplantation process, the Superintendent of Agriculture under Kakraban Agri Subdivision, Dr. Raju Majumder has joined the initiative along with Kiran Bhowmik, a PhD scholar in Agricultural Economics at Tripura University and Nabanil Datta, a young farming enthusiast. Local representatives, including the MLA and Zilla Sabhadipati of Gomati District, have also put their hands together in planting paddy seedlings, making the occasion a collaborative effort between officials, researchers, and community leaders.

In his interaction with participants, Avula Ramesh Reddy has stated that farming activities have been the key to the country’s progress, and the government has taken several initiatives for the benefit of farmers. He has noted that developmental schemes and the provision of minimum support prices for various crops have been aimed at improving farmers’ livelihoods and ensuring agricultural sustainability.

Expressing his thoughts, Paramananda Sen has said that the inspiration he has received from the presence and participation of senior officials like Reddy has greatly encouraged him in his agricultural work. “Farming activities have become more inspiring when they have received recognition and motivation from high-level personalities,” he has remarked.

Speaking on the importance of paddy cultivation, Kiran Bhowmik has highlighted that agriculture has remained the backbone of Tripura’s rural economy. “Rice has been the staple food for most people in the state. Government benefits have to be provided in line with the actual needs of farmers to ensure sustainable growth,” he has said.
