Agartala, 13th November 2025:   Bishalgarh police recovered a large quantity of foreign liquor hidden underground at the residence of Jiban Shil, a suspected bootlegger from the Office Tilla area. Despite efforts to conceal the contraband, Shil failed to evade the law.

Police sources informed that Shil had allegedly been running an illegal liquor business from his home for an extended period. Although Bishalgarh police had received multiple reports about his activities, previous attempts to raid the premises were hindered by lack of actionable intelligence.

Acting on a confidential tip-off, a joint team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Madhu Chakraborty and supported by TSR personnel conducted a raid this afternoon. Upon sensing the police presence, Shil reportedly fled the scene.

During the search, officers unearthed a substantial stockpile of foreign liquor buried beneath the property. Speaking to reporters at Bishalgarh police station later that day, ASI Chakraborty estimated the market value of the seized liquor to exceed Rs 50,000. He confirmed that legal proceedings are being initiated against Shil under relevant provisions of the law.
