Agartala: August 22. In a significant effort to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of Kailashahar city, a collaborative operation was undertaken by the Kailashapur Municipal Council and the Kailashahar Sub-Divisional Administration. A series of illegal shops that had sprung up across various areas of the city were demolished, utilizing eco-friendly jute construction materials.

The joint operation, led by Kailashapur Municipal Council Chairperson Chapla Rani Debrai, saw the participation of key officials, including Kailashahar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pradip Sarkar, Deputy Magistrates Biswajit Das and Rajib Dutta, among others. The team commenced the demolition on Tuesday morning, targeting unauthorized constructions that had encroached upon public spaces, particularly in areas such as Panichowki Bazar and the Central Road of Kailashahar.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Pradip Sarkar said that the detrimental effects of these illegal constructions on the city’s infrastructure and cleanliness.

He emphasized that such constructions were causing congestion in the market and the city, resulting in inconvenience for pedestrians and hindrances for larger vehicles, including emergency services like fire departments.

“In case of a fire emergency, the unimpeded access of fire department vehicles to the market area was being compromised due to the unchecked proliferation of these unauthorized structures,” said the SDM.

Furthermore, the presence of these unauthorized constructions was tarnishing the city’s aesthetic appeal and leading to the accumulation of waste, contributing to an unsanitary environment. Consequently, the joint effort between the local municipal council and the sub-divisional administration aimed to address these challenges and restore the city’s cleanliness.

The SDM said that such demolition activities have been conducted on a regular basis in various market areas within the Kailashahar Sub-Division. The initiative has previously targeted locations like Gaurnagar Bazar, Bhagwan Nagar, the district hospital premises, and Tilabazar, among others.
