Agartala, April 16: The administration is praising the smart city with inactive traffic signals. Pedestrians and commuters are constantly getting confused with the traffic signals installed at all squares and junctions in Agartala city.

On the one hand, traffic jams are being created with traffic signals installed within 100 to 200 metres away in the city, on the other hand, the traffic police are found to be busy with smartphones by setting the yellow signal in different squares of the capital city.

As a result of which, on the one hand, traffic jams have become a cause of suffering for pedestrians and commuters while on the other hand, accidents are also increasing in the city. Due to this dereliction of duties by city administration and traffic police personnel, the naked form of smart city is being revealed among the pedestrians and commuters. That’s what the people of Tripura’s capital city think.

On Sunday, a motorcycle and a scooty met with an accident at Orient Chowmuhani at 11 AM due to improper traffic signal. In this mishap, three people sustained grievous injuries.

It is reported that a scooty was heading towards Jackson gate from RMS Choumuhani and another motorcycle was heading towards Rabindra Bhavan from Shakuntala Road collided at high speed. Three people were seriously injured on the spot. Firefighters were informed. Firefighters shifted the injured persons to IGM Hospital.

Locals said that the injuries of the injured persons were serious. However, the locals expressed their anger about the traffic signals. They complained that the traffic signal was off and there was no traffic police at the helmet bank. Such accidents are happening frequently in Agartala city due to negligence of traffic police on duty.

Many people think that traffic signals made with people’s money are of no use. And who keeps the news? But many people become crippled in such accidents and become a burden to the family. The government is avoiding responsibility.
