INDI Alliance gives deputation to Election Commission in North district

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 15th April 2024:  The INDI Alliance has submitted a deputation to the Election Commission on behalf of the North Tripura district. The purpose of this deputation is to address the challenges faced during the ongoing election campaign in support of INDI Alliance candidate Rajendra Reang for the East Tripura reserved seat.

Leaders and activists from the North Tripura chapter have been actively campaigning in various areas. However, their efforts have created difficulties for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in holding meetings. Protests against this adversity prompted the submission of the deputation.

The deputation was submitted on Monday in the presence of North Tripura Left Front General Secretary Amitabh Datta, Congress state secretary Chayan Bhattacharya and Jubrajnagar MLA Sailendra Chandra Nath.

Despite the Election Commission’s instructions to maintain a zero-violence environment, incidents have taken place in the North district. Notably, Dharmanagar, Panisagar, and Jubarajnaagar witnessed attacks by alleged BJP supporters during meetings organized by the INDI Alliance.

The INDI Alliance questions the absence of videography during their campaign events and the Election Commission’s failure to issue appropriate orders. In light of these concerns, the deputation seeks to ensure transparent and safe conduct of the upcoming elections. It has been submitted to the Chief Election Commissioner for urgent consideration.
