Agartala, 8th January 2026: The Indian Dental Association (IDA), Tripura State Branch, has strongly objected to certain media reports that wrongly identified an arrested individual as a dental surgeon.
Dr. Ankur Roy, Honorary Secretary of the IDA Tripura, clarified: “It has come to our notice that in connection with the arrest of one Prosanjit Das from Gabtali, Bilonia, in a pistol-related case, several media outlets have referred to him as a dentist/dental surgeon. This is completely false. The said person is not a qualified dental practitioner.”
Dr. Roy emphasized that publishing such unverified claims is highly irresponsible and can cause unnecessary damage to the reputation of a noble profession.
“Disseminating news without proper verification is extremely harmful and creates unwarranted negative perceptions about dentistry in society. On behalf of the Indian Dental Association, Tripura State Branch, we strongly protest this misrepresentation and urge all media houses to exercise caution in the future,” he stated.
The Association has requested that a clear correction and clarification be published promptly to prevent further misinformation.
