Industries Minister Santana Chakma felicitates IndiaSkills winners, launches training initiatives

Agartala, 13th February 2026:   Industries Minister Santana Chakma today felicitated winners of the Regional IndiaSkills Competition 2025-26 and announced new training initiatives aimed at expanding employment opportunities in Tripura.

Tripura secured notable success at the regional event held in Assam, participating in 16 trades with 28 competitors. The state bagged 2 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze, and 1 Medallion of Excellence. Seventeen candidates, including 13 direct qualifiers in future-ready sectors such as Cyber Security, Industry 4.0, ICT Infrastructure, Renewable Energy, and Digital Construction, will represent Tripura at the National IndiaSkills Competition.

Medal winners received cash awards of Rs. 75,000 for Gold, Rs. 50,000 for Silver, and Rs. 25,000 for Bronze from the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Under the Mukhya Mantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa (MMDUP), the state government is providing matching incentives. The Minister personally handed over the prizes, underscoring the dedication of students, trainers, and institutions in strengthening Tripura’s presence in the national skill ecosystem.

On the occasion, Chakma also launched the General Duty Assistant training program under MMDUP in collaboration with Swadhin Trust. One hundred candidates will undergo eight months of on-the-job training with a minimum stipend of Rs. 8,000 per month and assured placement in the healthcare sector with salaries starting at Rs. 10,000. The initiative is expected to boost healthcare support services while creating employment for youth.

Additionally, the Minister introduced a Soft Skills and Interview Preparedness Course for 200 students of government degree colleges across Tripura. Delivered through 28 short online modules, the program aims to enhance communication, confidence, and professional behaviour, preparing students for competitive examinations and career opportunities.
