Agartala, 14th November 2025: Under heavy fog early this morning, a large-scale anti-narcotics operation was carried out by Jatrapur police in collaboration with BSF personnel. Led by OC Smriti Kanta Bardhan, the joint force destroyed approximately 1,00,000 cannabis plants across seven plots during a three-hour-long raid.
This marked the tenth phase of such operations initiated by Jatrapur police administration. According to OC Bardhan, the latest raid was the largest cannabis eradication drive since he assumed charge at the station.
By 9 a.m., the operation had concluded. Bardhan revealed in an exclusive statement that a force of 50 personnel was deployed, which deterred locals from approaching the site. The team systematically cleared all seven plots and later set fire to the uprooted plants using kerosene.
The operation involved 26 BSF jawans from New Nidoya and Kaiyatilla camps, including Assistant Company Commander Sanjay Halder and Inspector Dipankar Saha. Additionally, 24 police personnel from Jatrapur station, led by Sub-Inspector Amarkishore Debbarma, participated in the mission.
The cannabis plants had reportedly sprouted in forested areas along the western border of Nidoya Panchayat. After completing the destruction, the force returned safely to the station. OC Bardhan confirmed that similar operations will continue whenever new information is received.
