Agartala, 27th March 2025: The Leader of the Opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury, today stated that he cannot accept Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha’s proposal to return to the Assembly House. Addressing a press conference, Chaudhury, who is also the CPIM state committee secretary, acknowledged that discussions can resolve any problem and expressed his gratitude to the Leader of the House and Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha for his appeal.
“But I am very sad and unfortunate that we can’t accept his request. Because of all the incidents that have taken place in the Assembly, including gagging my voice and that of the opposition, the Leader of the House did not intervene even once. He is the Leader of the House, and he is responsible for controlling it. The same thing happened on the second day, and he still did not intervene. If we do not protest, what message will it send? It will imply that the ruling party’s mistakes are justified and that whatever we do as the opposition is wrong. That is why we cannot accept the Chief Minister’s appeal,” he added.
