Job aspirants protest delay in jail police recruitment process

Agartala, 15th July 2024:  Job aspirants seeking positions in the Jail Police have staged a protest outside the IG Prison office in the capital city, demanding the swift completion of the recruitment process on Monday. In 2022, candidates underwent physical measurements as the first step toward employment, but nearly a year later, they have yet to see the scheduled written and viva tests.

“We are here today to urge the Chief Minister to expedite the recruitment process,” said one frustrated aspirant. “It’s unacceptable that we have waited this long without any updates.”

The aspirants gathered at the IG Prison office on Monday, hoping to submit a formal deputation regarding their concerns. However, they were once again unable to meet with officials. In response, they displayed placards and expressed their dissatisfaction with the prolonged timeline for filling vacant positions.

Critics have pointed out that the government takes four to five years to complete a single recruitment cycle, during which time numerous job vacancies arise. This has sparked questions about the government’s commitment to addressing unemployment. As one observer noted, “It raises the issue of what the government’s true intentions are regarding job creation. The answer may become evident at the ballot box in future elections.”
