Agartala, 2nd September 2025: Job seekers in Tripura have raised concerns over the sudden relocation of their physical fitness test venue to Aizawl, Mizoram, as part of the central recruitment process for paramilitary forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Every year, recruitment rallies are conducted across various states to fill positions in paramilitary units, overseen by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) through written and physical examinations. Tripura has traditionally hosted these physical tests locally. However, starting in 2025, candidates from the state were unexpectedly directed to appear for their physical assessments in Mizoram.
On Tuesday, a group of female aspirants gathered at Swami Vivekananda Ground in Agartala to voice their grievances to the media. They alleged that the running tracks in Mizoram were poorly maintained and included steep, hilly terrain—conditions they were unaccustomed to. “We are trained to run on flat roads in Tripura. The hilly paths in Mizoram made it extremely difficult to complete the run within the stipulated time,” said one of the candidates.
Many participants reportedly failed to meet the physical benchmarks due to the unfamiliar and challenging terrain. The aspirants are now demanding that the physical tests be reinstated within Tripura to ensure fair and accessible evaluation for local candidates.
