Job aspirants stage protest with empty plates

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, 3rd December 2025:   Carrying empty rice plates in their hands, job aspirants for the prison department took to the streets once again, staging a symbolic protest outside the office of the Inspector General of Prisons. The demonstrators were candidates who had appeared for the 2022 recruitment examination, and they expressed anger over the prolonged delay in appointments.

According to the protesters, a notification for jail police recruitment was issued in 2022, followed by physical tests for nearly 12,000 candidates. However, even after three years, the written and oral examinations have not been conducted, leaving the recruitment process incomplete. Despite submitting multiple deputations to the authorities, the candidates claim they have received no satisfactory response.

Frustrated by the inaction, the aspirants resorted to a symbolic protest, holding empty plates to highlight their plight and demand immediate action. They have appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene and ensure the recruitment process is completed without further delay.

The prolonged stalemate has sparked resentment among unemployed youth, who accuse the government of neglecting its responsibility in filling the jail police vacancies.
