Agartala, 29th May 2026: In a significant move to strengthen border security and crack down on smuggling activities, the Tripura Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) carried out a joint patrol operation in the Belonia subdivision of South Tripura on Friday. The special operation was conducted in the sensitive Mundabasti Border Outpost (BOP) area adjoining the Indo-Bangladesh border.
Official sources informed that the operation witnessed the participation of the Officer-in-Charge of Belonia Police Station, the Company Commander of the 43rd Battalion BSF, along with several officers and jawans from both security forces. The coordinated exercise aimed at enhancing vigilance in border regions, preventing illegal infiltration, curbing cross-border smuggling activities, and ensuring the safety and security of residents living in the area.
As part of the operation, intensive checking and surveillance were carried out at multiple vulnerable locations along the border belt. Security personnel also conducted inspections in nearby areas and kept a close watch on suspicious movements.
Officials further interacted with local residents during the patrol and appealed to them to remain alert and immediately report any unusual or suspicious activities to the authorities. The awareness interaction was intended to strengthen cooperation between security agencies and border villagers.
Police sources stated that such joint patrolling exercises would continue regularly in the coming days to maintain peace and order in the border areas and to effectively curb criminal and anti-national activities.
The initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents, who expressed hope that increased surveillance and coordinated action by the Police and BSF would help ensure greater security and reduce smuggling-related incidents in the region.
