Agartala, 11th April 2026: The Year-End Farewell and New Year Celebration organised by Kabyalok has become an exciting cultural tradition of the state over the past 28 years. This much-awaited event, marking the end of the Bengali year 1432 and the beginning of 1433, will be held on April 14 and 15, 2026. Over the years, the celebration has grown into a major cultural festival, attracting people from different sections of society who come together to celebrate the rich heritage of the region.
The two-day programme will take place at the open premises of Tulshibati School in Agartala. This year, the event will feature nearly 30 performances with the participation of more than 200 artists. Renowned singer Rajkumar Roy from West Bengal and the well-known dance group “Srijoni” will be among the main attractions. In addition, several eminent artists and cultural organisations from the state will present a variety of traditional performances.
A special highlight of the celebration will be the presentation of the “Kabyalok Samman – 1433” to noted lyricist and writer Subimal Bhattacharya in recognition of his valuable contribution to literature and music. The organisers have also invited the Chief Minister, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, along with the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation and other distinguished guests to grace the occasion.
The festival will showcase the state’s traditional cultural forms such as Garia, Gajan, Jarisari, Baul songs, folk music, and traditional Dhak and Dhol performances. With such a diverse and colourful lineup, the event is expected to create a vibrant festive atmosphere and continue its legacy as one of the most cherished cultural celebrations in the state.
