Agartala, 14th October 2024: Despite multiple peace meetings following the Kadamtala incident in the North district, residents remain anxious. The Kadamtala market has yet to fully reopen, and misleading videos and rumors on social media continue to spread. To address these issues, a committee was formed on Monday to ensure the ongoing peace in Kadamtala.
The new committee named “Kadamtala-Kurti Nagarik Mancha,” consists of thirty-three members including representatives from the Kurti assembly constituency and notable community figures. The committee formation took place at the South Kadamtala Community Hall on Monday noon. The members include Kadamtala Panchayat Samiti Vice Chairman Bidhabhusan Das, Kadamtala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Jayanta Debnath, Churaibari Police Station OC Khokon Saha, Panchayat Samiti members Hasim Talukdar and Jaharul Haque, former chairman Subrata Deb, and community leaders such as Gias Uddin Chowdhury, Fakhr Uddin, Ustar Ali, Hiralal Nath, Subhasish Sengupta, and Rasamay Nath.
During the meeting, participants called for the full cooperation of the police to take stringent actions against those spreading rumors and causing disturbances. OC Jayanta Debnath of Kadamtala police station urged the community’s support and assured strict measures against mischief-makers.
