Kadamtala police seizes ‘Yaba’ tablets, cannabis worth Rs 35 lakh, one held

Agartala, June 03, 2023: An anti-drug operation of Kadamtala police station under the leadership of North Tripura district’s Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty again.

From Friday afternoon, the OC of the local police station, along with his team, launched an anti-narcotics operation. On this evening, on the basis of secret information, the police arrested Tajul Islam (32), a resident of Nilam Bazar under Karimganj district of Assam, along with 4,000 Yaba tablets from Baghan area of Tripura-Assam border.

Later that day at around 8 PM in the evening, the police raided the house of Saddam Hossain, a resident of Premtala Bazar in South Kadamtala area and recovered 100 kg of cannabis in 10 packets from the house. However, the smuggler fled from the house before the police raid.

District SP Bhanupada Chakraborty has confirmed the truth of the incident. He said that two separate operations were conducted on the basis of secret information. The Kadamtala police station staff registered two separate cases and started investigation. The Kadamtala police station staff are searching for Akdash Ali, father of fugitive Saddam Hossain.

He also said that the black market value of the recovered ‘Yaba’ tablets is 20 lakhs and the black market value of cannabis is Rs 15 lakhs. He further added that the ‘Yaba’ tablets were brought from Assam to the state for smuggling.

Moreover, earlier, the fugitive Saddam Hossain in the case of cannabis smuggling was also sentenced in the drug case.
