Agartala, 11th June 2026: Keeping in mind the health and hygiene of female students, Kailashahar Lions Club has provided a sanitary napkin vending machine to Bhagini Nivedita Higher Secondary School. The machine was handed over to the school’s acting principal, Sanjib Ghosh, during a brief ceremony held at the school on Thursday at 11 a.m.
The event was attended by Kailashahar Lions Club president Shukla Banik, secretary Bhaskar Dhar, treasurer Ratnapradip Chakraborty, senior member Dr. Debashish Tarafdar, service chairperson Sanjib Chowdhury, and other club members.
Addressing the gathering, Shukla Banik said the initiative was in response to a request submitted by the school principal a few months back, seeking the installation of a sanitary napkin vending machine for students. “We are proud to hand over the machine today,” he said, noting that it had taken some time due to the club’s year-round involvement in various social and welfare activities.
Banik also highlighted the success of a similar machine installed a few years ago at Kailashahar Ramakrishna Vidyalaya and expressed hope that the students of Bhagini Nivedita School would benefit similarly. He spoke about the club’s ongoing social initiatives, including installing water purifiers at remote schools and distributing educational and essential supplies to underprivileged students.
He emphasized that the club’s work is driven solely by social responsibility and public welfare, rather than personal gain, and praised the support of the community for enabling their service.
The school authorities, teachers, and students welcomed the initiative, noting that the vending machine would play a significant role in promoting menstrual hygiene and ensuring easy access to essential sanitary products for the students.
