Agartala, 3rd October 2026 : Kailashahar is set to witness its first-ever Durga Puja Carnival this year, with the Unakoti district administration stepping up preparations to give the festive celebrations a larger and more inclusive character.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy reviewed the preparations at a meeting held at the Unakoti District Magistrate’s office on Saturday. District officials, representatives of local clubs and members of various Puja committees attended the meeting, where arrangements for the proposed carnival were discussed.
The initiative seeks to bring different Puja committees and community organisations together on a common platform while highlighting the cultural traditions and spirit of harmony associated with Durga Puja.
Minister Roy stressed the need for close coordination among the departments concerned to ensure that the carnival is conducted in an orderly and safe manner. He said the event should go beyond entertainment and serve as a platform for strengthening social bonding and showcasing Durga Puja as a shared cultural celebration.
The meeting reviewed arrangements relating to crowd management, security, logistics and coordination between government departments. The role of clubs and Puja committees in ensuring active public participation was also discussed.
Unakoti District Magistrate Megha Jain, along with senior officials of various line departments, was present at the meeting.
