Agartala, 19th June 2024:   Kalma Senior Basic School was officially upgraded to Kalma High School on Wednesday. The ceremony was held at the school grounds on Wednesday where Cooperative minister Shuklacharan Noatia bestowed the new status upon the institution.

Accompanying Minister Noatia were MLA Pramod Reang, social worker Ajay Reang, school inspector Bikash Mitra and the school’s headmaster. The occasion was marked by a palpable sense of joy and anticipation among the attendees.

Highlighting the historical significance of the school, Minister Noatia remarked, “The foundation stone of this school was laid in 1955, and since then, it has played a pivotal role in the education of our community.” He also expressed regret over the delay in upgrading the school, noting, “Despite several changes in governance over the years, the need for this upgrade was overlooked.”

The journey towards this upgrade gained momentum after sustained efforts from the local community and educational advocates. “Since the formation of the development-oriented BJP government in 2018, demands for improving our school have been persistent,” Minister Noatia stated, acknowledging the role of former Education Minister Ratanlal Nath and Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha in championing the cause.

The transformation from a higher primary school, which occurred in 1985, to now a fully-fledged high school reflects a renewed commitment to educational excellence in the region. “Today marks a new chapter in the educational journey of Kalma,” proclaimed Minister Noatia, as the local community celebrated this long-awaited achievement.

The upgrade is expected to have a profound impact on the educational scenario of the area, with heightened enthusiasm visible among the public. As Kalma High School prepares to welcome its inaugural batch under its new designation, optimism for a brighter future resonates throughout the community.
