Ker Puja is bigger than religion, reflects our identity and heritage: Pradyot Kishore

Date:

Agartala, 4th August 2026 :  Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma extended heartfelt greetings to the people on the occasion of Ker Puja, describing the festival as an important symbol of the community’s identity, heritage, history and cultural roots.

Debbarma said Ker Puja transcends religious boundaries and should be respected by everyone, irrespective of their faith. “You may be a Hindu, Christian, Buddhist or Muslim, but Ker Puja is bigger than a religion. It is our identity, our heritage and our history,” he said.

He urged the Tiprasa people to remain connected with their traditions, culture and roots, just as they value their Rignai, Risa, traditional food and other cultural practices.

Speaking about his health, Debbarma said he was feeling better and could now walk properly. He expressed gratitude to God and the people for their blessings, love and support.

He also announced that he was preparing to take “drastic” steps aimed at changing the existing system and sought the support of young people. He said a core committee had already been formed and a new mechanism was being created to enable people to meet and communicate with him outside political activities.

Calling for greater love and respect within families, Debbarma urged youngsters to embrace their elderly parents and grandparents. He said spreading love, wisdom and positivity could help unite society and overcome divisions.
