Agartala, July 29, 2023: A family dispute took a horrifying turn on Saturday when a man named Prasenjit Das went on a violent rampage with a knife at his in-laws’ house in the Banikya Chowmuhani area. The incident resulted in one person being killed and two others injured.
According to reports, Prasenjit Das had married Sajal Debnath’s daughter from Banikya Chowmuhani area in Khayerpur a few months back. However, their married life became fraught with tension and turmoil. Prasenjit allegedly subjected his wife to physical and mental abuse on numerous occasions, even attending counseling sessions that bore no positive results.
Recently, Sajal Debnath convinced her daughter to move back to her parents’ home due to the escalating situation. On the day of the incident, Prasenjit visited his in-laws’ house to take his wife back with him, but she refused to go. This rejection led to a heated argument, during which Prasenjit attacked father-in-law Sajal Debnath, brother-in-law Lakhan Debnath and his mother-in-law with a sharp knife. They sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the GBP Hospital for treatment.
Sadly, the attending doctors declared Lakhan Debnath as deceased upon arrival at the hospital. Meanwhile, Sajal Debnath is also fighting for his life. The shocking incident has left the entire locality in a state of upheaval.
