Agartala: September 22: In response to the severe shortage of work, food, and drinking water plaguing the entire state, the Tripura Khet Majdur Union has decided to launch mass deputation.
This initiative aims to address the pressing concerns of the populace and advocate for their rights.
During a press conference today, leaders of the organization, Shyamal Dey and Bhanu Lal Saha,the union has resolved to undertake a mass deputation in every block to highlight the critical issues faced by the residents. Additionally, a monumental effort will be made to personally visit 1000 families and engage with an estimated 100,000 individuals, ensuring their voices are heard.
“On September 26, between 11 am and 2 pm, a large-scale sit-in protest is scheduled to take place in front of the Labor Department office on Office Lane in the capital. The event aims to draw attention to a range of demands, including an increase in allocations for the Rural Employment Guarantee Act (REGA) work, ensuring 200 days of employment, and raising wages for laborers”, said the leaders.
They emphasized that since 2014, the cost of daily necessities in the country has surged by a staggering 65 percent. The government’s reduction of REGA workdays from 32 to 33 has further exacerbated the crisis. The leaders asserted that it is imperative to initiate a movement to extricate the populace from this dire situation.
The Tripura Khet Majdoor Union calls upon the community to unite and participate in this collective endeavor, underlining the urgency of addressing the fundamental needs of the state’s residents.
