Agartala, 23rd June 2025:  The Khowai District Little Magazine Forum convened a solemn meeting at the District Library yesterday at 4 pm commemorating literary and national losses and addressing pressing cultural concerns.

The gathering opened with tributes to eminent Bengali novelist Prafulla Roy along with local poets Manik Das and Samar Mohan Gope, who all passed away recently. A minute’s silence was observed not only in their memory but also to mourn the tragic loss of passengers in the June 12 plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

In a poignant show of solidarity, the forum also unanimously adopted a resolution condemning the attack by communal fundamentalists on the ancestral Kachari house of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore in Shilaidaha, Sirajganj, Bangladesh. The condemnation and condolence message was formally read by Forum Editor Jaharlal Das.

The meeting was presided over by Forum President Manoranjan Gope. Literary voices including Vice President Priyatosh Ghosh, poet-journalist Dipanjan Bhattacharya and poets Sunirmal Biswas, Uttam Sarkar, Sajal Deb, Mithu Debnath, Sumita Roy and Sourapratim Sharma were present.

In a significant step towards expanding their literary outreach, the forum resolved to publish its official mouthpiece ahead of the upcoming Independence Day along with presenting the organization’s financial accounts.
