Khowai police arrest four for drug trafficking in high-speed chase

Agartala, 13th December 2024:   Khowai police arrested four individuals for drug trafficking following a high-speed chase that culminated in a car crash. The incident has sent shockwaves through the city, particularly in the Chabri Bazar area.

The sequence of events began this afternoon when Khowai police station OC Subir Malakar spotted a suspicious car at Cherma Naka point. Acting on his instincts, OC Malakar, along with other police personnel, pursued the vehicle, bearing the registration number TR06D0409. The chase ended abruptly when the car lost control and crashed into a shop at Chebri Bazar, causing significant damage.

“During the chase, our patrol car was also damaged,” OC Malakar reported. Despite the collision, police swiftly arrested the four occupants of the car. A search of the vehicle revealed syringes used for drug trafficking and a box of drugs.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Nakul Debbarma, Sintu Debbarma, Civil Debbarma, and Rhythm Debbarma. They have been taken to Khowai police station for intensive interrogation. “A specific case has been registered against them under relevant sections,” stated a police spokesperson.

Police sources indicated that the vehicle has been frequently used to smuggle various stolen goods. The incident has created a buzz in the entire city, with residents expressing their concerns over the increasing drug-related activities.

The Khowai police’s swift action underscores their commitment to tackling drug trafficking and ensuring public safety. The authorities are now focused on thoroughly investigating the case and bringing all involved parties to justice.
