Agartala, May 09, 2023: Aggrieved MLA and BJP state general secretary Kishor Barman on Tuesday left the celebration programme of the 162nd birth anniversary of ‘Kabiguru’ Rabindranath Tagore due to mismanagement of the programme organized by the ICA department and Sonamura Nagar Panchayat.

The gathering of people from setting the stage for the morning program organized at the local Rabindra Choumuhani area was an instance of extreme disorganization.

It is alleged that an amount of Rs 30,000 was allotted by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs for conducting this program based on sub-division and the chairman of the Sonamura Nagar Panchayat took the responsibility of preparing the stage for Rabindra Chowmuhani’s morning program.

After coming to the event and witnessing that stage, the MLA became furious. Apart from a few elected representatives of the Nagar Panchayat and artists who came to perform in the program, there was hardly any crowd at the venue. The MLA who came to inaugurate expressed his anger about that too. So Sonamura Nagar Panchayat Committee set a precedent.

There has been a lot of fuss about this issue. Blaming each other is also observed on this day. The Nagar Panchayat blames the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs. The office says that it is not their responsibility to gather people and manage them. However, the MLA was sitting in the office while getting into the car. He did not return to the venue after many attempts by the administrative staff. However, at last the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Manik Lal Das, prominent social worker Debabrata Bhattacharjee, Biswajit Das, Nagar Vice-Chairperson Shah Jahan Mia and others saved the quality of the event by attending as guests in the end.
