Agartala, January 19: The 46th ‘Kokborok Bhasha Diwas’ was observed on Friday with various cultural and educational programs across Tripura. The main event was held in Agartala, where Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and MLA Rampada Jamatia were among the dignitaries who attended the celebration.
In his speech, Roy said that the government is committed to strengthening the Kokborok language and culture, and providing quality education for the tribal communities. He said that the government has taken several steps to promote the linguistic and cultural diversity of Tripura, and to ensure the rights and welfare of the tribal people.
A colorful procession was also organized as part of the ‘Kokborok Bhasha Diwas’ celebration. It started from the Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, and passed through the main streets of the city.
Students from different schools and colleges, as well as people from various ethnic groups, participated in the procession, carrying banners and placards with slogans in support of the Kokborok language and culture. The procession ended at the same venue where it began.
