Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala holds Swachhata Pakhwada programme

Agartala, December 30: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized “Swachhata Pakhwada” during 16th December to 31st December 2023 at different villages of the Sepahijala district. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal.

The main objective of this programme to raise awareness of cleanliness and sanitation drive, safe and sustainable sanitation, recycling of waste water, safe disposal of waste, utilization of organic waste, polythene free campus, promoting clean and green technologies, awareness through cleaning of public place, and shramdhan on cleanliness, curb on single use plastic etc.

The programme was organized under the technical guidance of Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ATARI, Zone-VII, Umiam, Meghalaya, Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU (I), Manipur, Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU (I), Lembucherra, Tripura and supervision of Dr. Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Sepahijala, Tripura.

The programme was headed by Pijush Debbarma, Programme Assistant, KVK Sepahijala, Tripura and others skilled support staff help to sanitized the villages, and institutes, on the 1st day started with displaying banner at public place and followed by office and villages and schools, cleaning market and public places.

On 23rd December 2023, Farmers Day also celebrated, where, farmers encouraged for scientific cultivation, organic farming, and at the end Quiz was conducted among the farmers. Among the activity, shramdhan by KVK staff, cleaning of public place, quiz related to swachhata, visiting of composting unit, community cleaning of garden, awareness on waste to wealth etc.

On last cleaning of public place, Latiacherra market was cleaned where, chairman of the village Sandhyaram Debbarma, and Vice-Chairman Bishram Debbarma. A total of 5 villages were covered during the activity and total 197 participants engaged.
