Agartala, December 30: A group of women workers affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged a protest in Agartala on Friday, demanding justice for a woman judge who was sexually harassed in Uttar Pradesh last year. The protesters gathered in front of the city centre and raised slogans against the culprits and the authorities.

Panchali Bhattacharya, one of the leaders of the Tripura Labour Women Coordinating Committee, said that they came to know about the incident in December 2023, when the woman judge filed a complaint with the Chief Justice of India.

She said that the judge was molested by a lawyer inside the court premises in 2022, and that no action was taken against him. She questioned the safety and dignity of women in the country, especially in the judiciary, and demanded a fair and speedy rial of the case.
