Agartala, June 29, 2023: An untoward incident was organized at Kumarghat on Wednesday last, centered around ISKCON’s ‘Ulto Rath’ pulling. The ‘Rath’ caught fire when it came in contact with a high-voltage electric wire. 6 people died on the spot due to fire. Around 17 more people were injured. The injured were first taken to Kumarghat Sub-District Hospital and Phatikrai Primary Hospital. From there the seriously injured were referred to Unakoti District Hospital. From there, seven people were referred to GB Hospital in critical condition. Another child died while being taken to GB Hospital.

Meanwhile, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik and BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharya rushed to Kumarghat on Thursday. They went to the hospital and spoke to the injured and came to know about the whole incident. He wished speedy recovery to the injured and condoled with the bereaved families.

However, several questions have already come forward regarding the Kumarghat incident because such a big chariot will be taken through the road, the road has not been seen before? Conductors of electricity existed before that. But still why has the administration given permission to take such tall chariots through this road. So many lives have been lost prematurely. Who will take responsibility for it? ISKCON is not responsible for this incident?

Questions have also arisen as to whether ISKCON even had permission to take such a tall chariot through this road. And fingers can be raised against the TSECL, the police and the town council. Experts believe that a proper investigation can reveal who is responsible for this incident.
