Kumarghat Water Resource department corruption scandal: Opposition remains silent

Date:

By TC News Desk

Agartala, 31st January 2025:   The Kumarghat water resource department is embroiled in a multi-crore corruption scandal. Allegations suggest that the assistant engineer have been complicit in the corruption, which has reportedly exceeded Rs 5 crore. The situation has only worsened over time, with rumors implicating several anti-socials in the scandal.

This level of corruption is unprecedented, even compared to previous regimes. The central government’s funds for the Jal Jeevan Mission have allegedly been misappropriated by followers of the two-armed leader. Despite the magnitude of the scandal, the main opposition parties, CPIM and Congress, have remained conspicuously silent.

The CPIM occasionally addresses central issues but has shown no movement on local matters. The Congress party’s condition is equally deplorable, with no clear agenda for addressing local issues. During a recent state-based convention in Kumarghat, Congress leaders, including state president Asish Saha, criticized Amit Saha and Modi but failed to address the corruption scandal.

The corruption extends beyond the Water Resource department, affecting various sectors including the Public Works Department and Animal Husbandry Department. Local leaders of CPIM and Congress are accused of colluding with ruling party leaders, further disappointing opposition supporters and eroding their confidence.
