KVK, Sepahijala holds training-cum-demonstration of oil expeller machine

Agartala, October 18, 2023:  Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized a training programme on “Value addition and Post-harvest Management of Oilseeds Crop” on 18th October, 2023 at KVK-Sepahijala, Latiacherra. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Anupam Mishra, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal.

The main objective of the training programme is to demonstrated oil expeller machine & how one can earn extra income by cultivating various oilseeds crop.

The training was organized under the technical guidance of Dr. A.K. Mohanty, Director, ATARI, Zone-VII, Umiam, Meghalaya, Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU (I), Manipur and Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU (I), Lembucherra, Tripura.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Sepahijala, Tripura. In presence of Prof. Debasish Sen, Professor, Agronomy, Dr. Niladri Paul, Assistant Professor, Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry, and Dr. Durga Prasad Awasthi, Assistant Professor, College of Agriculture, Lembucherra, Tripura.

Dr. Joy Kumar Dey, SMS (Agronomy), KVK, Sepahijala, Tripura gave an insight into the importance of Value addition and Post-harvest Management of Oilseeds Crop and doubling the farming income and extracted good quality Oil for a healthy society. Prof. Debasish Sen highlighted the importance of oil seed crops and shared his experience on value addition and Post-harvest Management of Oilseeds Crop. Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Sepahijala, Tripura encouraged the farmers to adopt value addition and post-harvest management of oil seed crops and highlighted various path breaking ways for doubling of farmers’ income through value addition and post-harvest management of oil seed crops. During the programme Dr. Niladri Paul and Dr. Durga Prasad Awasthi, thoroughly discussed about the various nutrition and pests management of oilseeds crop. 

Vote of thanks speech was delivered by Dr Joy Kumar Dey, SMS (Agronomy), KVK, Sepahijala. A total of 30 farmers, farm women, rural youth from Bishalgarh & Charilam Block of Sepahijala district were actively participated in the programme and interacted with scientists.
