Agartala, March 27: In a nomination paper filing ceremony for the 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency, the late MLA Surajit Datta’s wife expressed the family’s support for Dipak Majumdar, the BJP’s chosen candidate. Despite speculation that a family member might step up, Majumdar was nominated by the party, with Surajit Datta’s wife affirming their backing.
However, Datta’s wife health issues prevented her from contesting. She disclosed battling kidney disease and undergoing treatment, having recently returned from Bangalore. Despite her inability to run, she lent her support to Majumdar, emphasizing their shared goals for the constituency’s welfare.
Addressing rumors of discord, Surajit Datta’s wife clarified the family harbored no resentment towards the party, firmly endorsing Majumdar’s candidacy. The announcement dispelled uncertainties surrounding the BJP’s candidate selection, with Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar emerging as their nominee.
With the family’s unequivocal support for the BJP candidate, the focus now shifts to the upcoming by-elections and the aspirations for positive community impact under Majumdar’s potential leadership.
