Agartala, February 14, 2023: CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury on Tuesday claimed that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union Home minister Amit Shah are worried about the victory of BJP in Tripura and that is why they have been arriving here to campaign several times.

He also claimed that the CPIM-led Left Front and Congress party will win the general election with absolute majority while TIPRA Motha party will achieve triumph in the 20 ST-reserved seats out of 60 assembly constituencies.

Agartala Press Club on Tuesday organized ‘Meet the Press’ and CPIM state secretary attended as keynote speaker. He was accompanied by Club’s vice-president Arun Nath and secretary Pranab Sarkar along with good number of media personnel.

“People have set their agenda and eagerly waiting to exercise their franchise in bringing rule of law across the state. This time, unprecedented election will take place in comparison to the general elections held in the past”, he said.

Sharing his stand on seat-adjustment issue ahead of election, Chaudhury said “It’s true that there are differences in ideologies and programmatic between Left Front and Congress, but the need of the hour is to restore democracy as the Constitution is under threat. At present, there is no democracy and rule of law in the state. The lone option left is seat-adjustment.”

He commended the Election Commission of India’s role for immediate action in Majlishpur violence took place on day of announcement of election in Tripura. However, the ECI and Chief Electoral Officer batted for ‘Zero-Poll Violence’. “On the other hand, sporadic incidents are being reported and in some of them, ECI is challenged by the BJP-backed hooligans. But, people are ready to face any eventuality on February 16”.

“On March 02, people’s government to be formed and law and order to prevail everywhere. 2.5 lakh youths to be appointed in government and private sectors. The retrenched 10,323 teachers will get proper accommodation in our regime.”

“In the five years of BJP’s rule, various constitutional bodies were under attack as no elections were not held properly, representatives were elected through false voting, etc. Although, BJP hailed for ‘Vocal for Local’, but permanent posts were filled up through outsourcing procedure at different offices. The youths’ were used for preparing ‘Bike Bahini’ for creating disturbances. SoFed is being used for outsourcing. Proper steps to be initiated against them. The army of former CM Biplab Kumar Deb embezzled lakhs of money using this SoFED”, he alleged and claimed that the BJP and RSS has used the state as their laboratory.

He further added that the TTAADC has been throttled and deprived from their due share in the last five years. “TIPRA Motha fielded their candidates in 20 ST-reserved seats and more 22 candidates outside these. Motha has influence on ST seats. We tried to have dialogue with TIPRA’s chairman Pradyot Kishore Manikya, but this did not work out. We are hopeful that post-poll talks will be fruitful”, he added.

Chaudhury said that the Left Front and Congres will achieve victory with absolute majority and BJP will reach to single digit majority while its allied partner IPFT will disappear.

“Tripura election and this adjustment is very big. This culmination day in Tripura will yield positive results. But the Prime Minister Modi and the union Home minister are immensely worried”, he added.

CPIM state secretary proudly said that they collect subscriptions from daily wage labouers and government employees through which their party runs. He alleged that the BJP leadership is looting the people’s money and government’s treasure. Using helicopters and chartered flights depicts the picture of their own interest. Former PMs Indira Gandhi, Rajib Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh never stepped down so low in the past.
