Agartala, 9th March 2026: The Tripura Left Front on Monday declared it will contest all 28 seats in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections. Out of the 28 candidates announced, 22 are new faces.
In addition to the council candidates, the Left Front also revealed its nominee for the Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency, which fell vacant following the passing of former Speaker and MLA Biswabandhu Sen last month.
Speaking to the media, Left Front convener Manik Dey highlighted that the district council had shifted to other parties in 1990, 2000, and 2021, but he claimed these changes did not reflect the genuine mandate of the people.

“When the Left was in power in the ADC, we delivered exemplary governance. This election is crucial, and we will fight it with full strength. Under the current ruling party, corruption is widespread, and pensioners are not receiving their dues,” Dey said, alleging large-scale scams within the district council administration.
He further criticized the state of public services, stating, “Education is in a pathetic condition, the drinking water crisis is severe, and hunger is widespread. Children are being trafficked, and people are dying of starvation. When the Left governed, the council set a high standard of administration.”
Dey also called for free and fair elections, claiming that electoral processes have not been conducted properly since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in the state.
Jitendra Chaudhury, Leader of the Opposition in Tripura, who was present at the press conference, asserted that state ministers are aware of the alleged corruption and scams within the district council.
“Under the pretext of development, rampant looting is happening in the district council,” Chaudhury said. He added that candidates were chosen carefully, factoring in experience, educational background, and youth representation.
