Agartala, 28th November 2025:   Left activists came under attack in Dharmanagar on November 26 when miscreants allegedly targeted a rally organized by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha. The CPI(M) has accused ruling BJP supporters of staging the violence.

In response, the CPI(M) West Tripura District Committee organized a protest march here today. Senior leaders including Manik Dey, former MP Jharna Das Baidya, and district secretary Ratan Das led the procession.

Speaking at the rally, CPI(M) leader Manik Dey condemned the incident, describing the BJP government as “authoritarian and neo-fascist.” He alleged that the ruling party has been attacking opposition programs across the state, with Dharmanagar being the latest example. Former MLA Amitabh Dutta was seriously injured in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at GB Hospital along with another injured activist.

“This kind of terror reflects the BJP’s weakness. Unable to stop people’s voices, they are resorting to cowardly violence,” Dey said. He further warned that attempts to silence the opposition through intimidation would fail, as “the people will rise again.”

The CPI(M) demanded immediate police action against those responsible, calling for exemplary punishment. The protest march culminated in a street meeting at Paradise Chowmuhani, where leaders once again held the government accountable for the growing political violence in the state.
